Kolkata Four bodies found in West Midnapore

Four bodies were found by security forces late on Thursday night from the side of a canal at Kumirkaka village in Binpur police station area in West Midnapore.

According to a senior police officer, three bodies were completely decomposed and unidentifiable.

“While patrolling at the canal side, the security forces stumbled upon the bodies. Two of the victims are women,” said an officer of Binpur police station.

“We have identified one person by a ring and the shirt he was wearing. But the other bodies have nothing to identify them with.”

The identified victim is Manotosh Singh, a resident of Dahijuri, who was a contractor of MPS resorts in Jhargram. He was abducted from his home on July 22.

A couple of months ago, the security forces found three decomposed bodies from a canal side in Goaltore police station area. None of those victims were identified.

A senior police officer said, “It seems that the bodies are of CPM cadres killed by Maoists.”

In yet another incident, suspected Maoists killed a CPM supporter, who has been identified as Santosh Dutta. According to a senior police official, Dutta was dragged out of his house at Banshpahari village in Belpahari police station area and was hacked to death.
