After nearly two decades, Syal has displayed his still life works at the Artmoshere art gallery. As expected, his exhibition is getting rave reviews.

Talking about his works, Syal says, “During my college days, I used to paint and had even evolved a style of my own. But as the norm of the city, I was forced to join the family business. But soon I began to feel suffocated as there was no outlet for my creative self. I then bifurcated into printing business, for it was here that some of my creative urges were satisfied.”

As Syal puts in, “However, with contentment came the craving to do more work. I began painting once again with a passion but a chance experiment with the camera had me hooked to this genre as the camera was one medium that made my photographs look like paintings. I plunged into photography with the same enthusiasm and soon my business took a back seat and I turned pro. Earning a fair share of awards, fellowships and friends like Dr A P Singh who is a marvelous photographer himself motivated me even further.”

Syal explains his entry into the genre of still life as, “To begin with, I was photographing everything. My portraits were a big hit. Later, I was doing landscapes too. My entry into this world of web through my pictures had me clicking the world around me though I chose just the beauty and not the ugliness. But then my friends directed me to create a niche for myself which I found in still life. The work that I have on display here is my labour of love of 12 years. The camera is the simple D70 and lighting the normal window lighting. The results however are amazing.”

Syal says that he loves to experiment.
