Regular recruitment of safai staff in municipal bodies, says Kalia

Ludhiana, January 19 Manoranjan Kalia, Local Bodies and Industry Minister, Punjab, has stated that with a view to improve cleanliness in cities and towns, the government had decided to regularly recruit safai staff in the municipal bodies of the state shortly.

He assured that all the genuine demands of sanitary inspectors will be fulfilled after discussion in a high-level meeting, in which representatives of association will also take part.

Kalia was addressing the function organized by Sanitary Inspector’s Association, Punjab, here today. Kalia also released the diary and calendar of the association for 2008.

The Local Bodies Minister said that to improve efficiency of the local bodies, the department is going to computerise the functioning of all the municipal corporations of the state. The pilot project, he added, is being launched at Mohali.

Later, Kalia presided over the annual prize distribution function of Bhartiya Vidya Mandir, and distributed the prizes to students for their achievements in different fields. Kalia exhorted the teachers to inculcate the qualities of discipline, moral values and service to the humanity amongst students, so that they can contribute to the harmonious transformation of society.

Kalia said that the SAD-BJP government has accorded top priority to women education. Those present on the occasion included Mayor Hakam Singh Gyaspura, Municipal Commissioner Vikas Partap, Senior Deputy Mayor Parveen Bansal, Deputy Mayor Sunita Aggarwal, Anil Sareen, Kamal Jaitly, O P Bharadwaj, District President BJP, Laxman Dravid, Ashwani Sahota, Chaudhary Yash Pal and Anuresh Mishra.
