Dinesh Gulati, CEO of Western region, said: “New subscribers would get Rs 10 talk-time every day for the first 90 days and will be offered unlimited calls on Reliance network between 11 pm to 6 am. Customers can also use a variety of top-up cards to make calls and SMSes over and above the free talk time.”
This launch comes within days of the company announcing the launch of its GSM services across 11,000 towns in the country.
Gulati said all the value-added and GPRS services will be offered to the customers from day one.
Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Circle Head in Gujarat, said: "Over 21 million mobile users in Gujarat can avail the state-of-the-art EDGE technology belonging to the 2.5 G category. Because of this, we will be able to offer digital voice clarity, congestion-free calls and up to 100 per cent cost savings.”
Denying that the move has no connection with the much-awaited auction of the 3G spectrum by the Department of Telecommunications, Gulati added, “Venturing into the GSM technology will certainly help in providing better services, as and when we get the 3G licence.”
