Relief for farmers: SAD-BJP plans ‘maha’ rally in Delhi

Chandigarh, February 7 Ahead of indications on the Union government mulling a relief package for farmers, the SAD-BJP in Punjab will organise what they term as a “maha rally” on February 26 at Ramlila Ground, New Delhi. The rally is being planned to pressure the Central government to waive the loans of farmers in Punjab.

In addition, the SAD is demanding a special package for the industry in the state on the pattern as is being given to states of J&K, Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal.

Member of Parliament and president of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) Sukhbir Singh Badal, along with MP and Secretary General, Shiromani Akali Dal Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Gujral met BJP national president Rajnath Singh at his residence in New Delhi late on Wednesday evening.

Sukhbir Badal said the rally will also impress upon the Congress government to stop its “interference” in religious affairs of the Sikhs. He claimed that about one lakh people from Punjab will participate in this rally, which will be attended by several leaders of various parties.
