The civic administration has stated that the building which currently houses the museum is in dilapidated condition and will be re-constructed.
Executive Health Officer, Dr Jairaj Thanekar said the new building should be completed in the next two years. He further added that the BMC will get 30,000 sq feet of land which will house a maternity centre, STD clinic and staff quarters along with 3,000 sq feet place devoted to museum which will be updated with a walk-through providing information on HIV. “We have begun consultation work for the upgradation of the museum on the national level,” Thanekar said.
The up-graded museum will also have audio-visual and animated information on HIV.
