Kolkata Repolling will be held in three booths of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation on Tuesday as clashes were reported from one of the booths and the other two complained of erroneous voting machines.

According to State Election Commissioner Meera Pandey, polling will take place between 7 am and 3 pm in booth number 13A at Jatiya Shishu Vidyala in ward 94, booth number 15A at Deshabandhu Valika Vidyalaya in ward 83 and booth number 21 at Kendua Mahendranath Girls’ High School in Ward 101.

In booth number 21 of ward 101, agitated voters had broken the Electronic Voting Machine after a security personnel from Tripura shot at a voter on Sunday. The reason for the incident is yet to be ascertained. The machine was damaged to such an extent that its memory could not be retrieved.

As for booth numbers 13A and 15A of ward numbers 94 and 83, the EVMs started malfunctioning roughly two hours after the voting procedure began. Since the machines were not registering the actual number of votes being cast, voting could not be continued in these two booths.
