The complex has a capacity to provide accommodation for 28 officers from the middle management of the Income Tax Department and will be expanded to accommodate 56 officers in the future. The complex, that covers 3610 square metres, will cater to the 51% shortage of flats for officers in Mumbai.

The construction work is being carried out by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD).

Apart from this complex another one is being developed at Nariman Point on a 3333 square yards plot. The cost for this is pegged at Rs 51.6 crore. An office complex will also come up in BKC. Chief Minister Ashok Chavan is expected to lay the foundation stone of the building. Speaking about the complex Bhide said, “We want to give good infrastructure to the I-T department in order to serve better, especially in Mumbai, which accounts for 38% of the nation’s taxes.”
