Jalandhar The Culture and Heritage Conservation Initiative (CHCI) termed the resolution on French turban ban, which was passed yesterday in the Assembly, as “half-baked, weak and worthless”, as it only conveys “feelings of hurt nurtured by Sikh community and is completely silent on the merits of the essential nature of turban and fives articles of the faith.

The body urged upon the Speaker of the House, leader of Opposition, Advocate General and MLAs for calling a special session on French turban ban to “pass a proper resolution” to ensure that Sikhs engaged in battles in courts on foreign lands get required legal strength from law-making body of their homeland.

Dr Manjit Singh Randhawa, convener of the heritage body, said, “Off-the-cuff resolution has also omitted the mention of equally-important issue of ‘bare head photographs’ for I-cards, passports and driving licenses for French Sikh citizens.”
