Gurgaon The month-and-a-half long stalemate between workers and the management of Rico Auto Industries Ltd in Gurgaon was finally sorted after a 45-hour long meeting that ended on Thursday at midnight after the management agreed to most of their demands.

According to an agreement, which was signed by representatives of the agitating workers and the management, the company management would take back nine of the 16 suspended workers.

The cases of the remaining seven suspended employees would be considered after an in-house inquiry, conducted by a retired judicial magistrate, who would be finalised by the Labour department. Upon the report of the inquiry officer, their case would be dealt under Section 33 of Industrial Disputes Act, 1947.

An understanding was also reached that the agitating workers would have no right of pay during the period of strike, from September 21 to November 5 under the principle of ‘No

work no pay’, but their services would be continued.

Workers in this auto ancillary unit had presented a charter of demands to the management on August 13. After no consensus could be reached, workers and employees hampered the manufacturing process, which forced the management to suspend 16 workers on September 21.

To protest this move, a majority of regular and contractual employees proceeded on a strike.

The final talks were held in presence of district administration officials.
