Rizvi turn the tables on Parle

Mumbai, January 3 After trailing in the first innings, Rizvi Springfield turned the tables on Parle Tilak (English) by beating them by two wickets on the third and final day of the second round of the MSSA Giles Shield (Elite Division) Inter-school cricket tournament, being played at Cross Maidan on Thursday. Overnight 103 for 4, Rizvi batsmen had some anxious moments ,especially against offspinner Jugal Rambhiya, who struck some telling blows before the boys from Bandra prevailed with two wickets to spare. Jugal returned with 5 for 36 off 17 overs. Defending champions Hansraj Morarji, riding on a fine allround performance by their skipper Utsav Judge (57 and 9 for 99), defeated Anjuman-I-Islam (Fort) by an innings and 32 runs.

Sawant shines for Rhodia Chemicals

Milan Sawant hit a strokeful 79 for Rhodia Chemicals to help them beat Lintas by four wickets and enter the quarter-finals of the salver shield in the Corporate Cricket League (CCL) 2007, being played at the Western Railway Stadium, Mahalaxmi & the ELF-Vengsarkar Academy. Batting first, Lintas riding on a half century by Satya Shetty (51) and Anand Damani’s 43 posted a total of 157 for 6 in 20 overs, but were unable to restrict Rhodia Chemicals as Man of the match Sawant batted well to see his team through for the loss of six wickets. In other league matches, BPL Mobile scored a five-wicket win over ING Investment Management and Accenture routed Cadbury by 151 runs.
