Kolkata, January 7 The Central Bureau of Investigation, which is supposed to place its report on the death of Rizwanur Rehman before the High Court on Tuesday, is likely to ask the court for more time to complete probe.

On Monday, Samaraditya Pal — the counsel for the three top police officers allegedly involved in the case — told Justice Dipankar Dutta in court that he will not be able to appear for Tuesday’s hearing. He appealed that the court should give him the opportunity to present his case later before it passes any order.

The police officers and Rizwanur’s father-in-law, businessman Ashok Todi are yet to file their affidavits. Justice Dutta is slated to hear the case tomorrow. Rehman’s body was found beside the Patipukur railway tracks on September 21 following days of intrigue after he married Ashok Todi’s daughter Priyanka.
