Rly athletic meet: India overall champions

Pune India won the overall championship at the 17th USIC Mens and 14th Women's Railway Athletic Championship - 2009 organised by the Railway Sports Promotion Board at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports City, Balewadi on Thursday.

India bagged a total of 32 medals, which included 14 gold medals, 11 silver medals and 7 bronze medals. Russia came in second with a total of 30 medals, which included 12 gold, 11 silver, and 7 bronze medals.

Norway came third with one gold medal to their credit.The Indian men contributed with nine golds, nine silvers and three bronze medals in the total tally while the women contributed with five golds, two silvers and four bronze medals.
