Road Safety Week celebrations begin

Ludhiana “To solve the traffic problems, every section of the society should come forward to help the police as this problem can not be solved by the police alone.”

This was stated by the senior superintendent of police (SSP) RK Jaiswal while addressing a gathering of school children, truck drivers, conductors, transporters, teachers, intellectuals and social workers during the inauguration of the 20th Road Safety Week celebrations which kicked off in the city today.

SSP Jaiswal called upon the social workers and NGOs to lend a helping hand to the police in controlling the traffic.

Speaking on this occasion, SP (Traffic) Rupinder Singh also urged the people to extend cooperation to the police in managing traffic in the city. On this occassion, a souvenir on traffic was also released.

A number of speakers at the function urged the drivers to keep themselves away from the intoxicants and drugs while driving vehicles. The speakers also held forth on female foeticide, drugs and HIV/AIDS.
