Robbers loot five truck drivers on highway stretch between Vadodara, Halol

Vadodara, March 12 Five truck drivers were reportedly looted on the highway stretch between Halol and Vadodara in the early hours of Wednesday by a group of masked men who had placed obstructions on the road.

After stopping the vehicles, the group of 15 odd youth first beat up the truck drivers with lathis and then robbed them of all the cash and valuables they were carrying.

According Chamansinh Aahir, a resident of Khatodara village in Haryana who reported the matter to the Waghodia police, the incident took place around 3.15 am on Wednesday near Kamrol village on the Halol –Vadodara highway. He said three other trucks and a tanker were also looted in a similar way. The robbers were all wearing kurta-pyjamas, red T-shirts and had their faces covered.

He said the robbers had blocked the highway with stones and other obstructions. A total of Rs 26,000 in cash and mobiles phones worth Rs 19,300 was looted.

According to the police officials, such modus operandi on the highway in the neighbourhood of Vadodara city is unusual.
