Allahabad Unidentified men killed a woman and injured three persons, two of them women, and committed robbery in three houses in Gaus Nagar area in the wee hours of Monday.

Barely a fortnight ago, unidentified dacoits had killed three members of a family in posh George Town.

The miscreants entered the house of one Mohammad Shafiq around 3 am.

On being opposed by the family members, they hit Shafiq’s wife Sheeba with a club on the head till she collapsed and died. They also attacked Shafiq, injuring him badly, said a police officer.

After ransacking the house, they entered the adjacent house, attacked the owner, one Shama Begum, and looted cash and valuables. Their next target was another nearby house, where they injured one Shaista Khan and decamped with valuables,

“I was asleep and woke up after hearing noise. I saw five persons near the almirah. When I screamed for help, one of them hit me with a club and I fell unconscious,” said Shama, who is undergoing treatment at the Colvin Hospital.

Shaista said after the men hit her in the head, she collapsed and regained consciousness around 7 am. She then called neighbours and informed the police.

Shafiq has been admitted in the Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital in a critical condition and was still unconscious. The police have detained a man and are questioning him in this connection. “We have some clues and will soon be able to solve the case,” said DIG BP Tripathi.
