The proposed building, being constructed at cost of Rs 34 crore on an area of 1.5 acres, will have the capacity to accommodate 400 officials.
The centrally air-conditioned building will have a conference hall, a well-equipped library and an ultra-modern earthquake-resistant structure.
Minister of State for Labour and Employment Oscar Fernandes, while speaking on the occasion, said that the Labour Bureau organisation plays a significant role in collection, compilation, analysis and dissemination of statistics on different facets of labour at the national level.
Minister of State for Finance Pawan Kumar Bansal, Sudha Pillai, Secretary, Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Ashok Sahu, Labour and Employment Advisor, UT Advisor Pardeep Mehra and Dr K S R V S Chalam, Director General, Labour Bureau were also present on the occasion.
