Nobody was injured in the incident as the roof fell inside the four walls. Shopkeepers of the area volunteered to guide passers-by and the traffic till the fire brigade, along with a rescue team, reached the spot.
Vadodara Fire Brigade officials said the three-storeyed building was owned by the Parshvanath Trust and was uninhabited for quite some time. The incident took place around 2.18 pm. Hearing the loud noise, nearby shopkeepers rushed to the site and then reported the incident to the fire brigade department fearing more damage.
However, no portion of the building collapsed further. Fire department sources said they dismantled a small portion of the wall towards the roadside so that it did not cause any damage to the commuters below.
The fire brigade, after reaching the spot, evacuated vehicles from the street in order to carry out its dismantling work. Some members of the Parshvanath Trust like Mukesh Dhiya and Ajit Zaveri had also reached the spot to monitor operations at the site.
