Chandigarh, February 24 The small rotary of Sector 34-35 was removed late last night and instead the Engineering Department of UT Administration constructed a median.

According to officials of the Engineering department, it would take about three days for them to finally carpet the stretch from where the rotary has been removed. To warn the commuters about the ongoing construction of carpeting of the stretch, the engineering wing has also put up cones, demarcating the area and also warning signboards.

The decision to remove the rotary was taken by the administration after assessing the traffic flow at Sector 34-35 dividing road by keeping the intersection closed for vehicular traffic for about a week. “We assessed the traffic flow on the road, which had improved because of closure of the rotary. We informed the administration, which decided to remove the rotary and construct a median,” mentioned a senior traffic police official.
