Rozal guides DAV-15 to victory

Chandigarh, February 8 A Fine bowling spell by Rozal Batra (4 for 25) helped DAV Model School, Sector 15 register a 56-run victory over Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 35 in the opening match of the Inter-School Limited Overs Cricket Tournament for Adviser's Cup being organised by the Chandigarh Sports Department at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium on Friday. Rozal was ably supported by Gursahib and Arjanveer Chadha who claimed two wickets each giving away 22 and 21 runs, respectively.

Chasing a victory target of 167 for victory, Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 35 were bowled out for 110 in 20 overs.For Government Senior Secondary School, Sector 35, narinder was the top scorer who played an unbeaten knock of 30 runs. Geet Krishan made 19 while Baljinder contributed 17 runs.

Earlier, DAV-15 won the toss and posted 166 for 7 in allotted 25 overs. Openers Tanveer Manak (42) and Amanpreet Singh (23) gave DAV Public School, Sector-15 a solid start by putting on 64 runs for the first wicket before Tanveer was bowled by Narinder. Thirteen runs later Amanpreet also departed. Then a 42-run partnership for the sixth wicket between Lakhan Shandil (25) and Kunal Mahajan (22) helped DAV Public School to post a challenging total. Earlier, Chandigarh Finance Secretary Sanjay Kumar inaugurated the tournament in which 12 schools are taking part.
