Athawale, who is also the president of the Republican Party of India (RPI), said he had first raised the issue of corrupt practices in Satyam in 2003.
The MP from Pandharpur constituency of Maharastra said he had written a letter to the SEBI on August 18, 2003 about a scam of Rs 20 crore in Satyam, but no action was taken.
“I had also raised the issue in Parliament and demanded a high-level probe,” he said.
“Now, only a CBI probe could go into the depth of the scam, which has swelled to Rs 7,000 crore and identify the guilty, including the SEBI officials who had ignored my letter,” Athawale said.
