Chandigarh, March 8 After their consistent failure in nabbing the chain snatchers, Chandigarh Police have now announced a cash reward of Rs 10,000 to any person who will provide them information leading to the arrest of the snatchers. The name of the informer will be kept secret, said the police.

The decision comes in the wake of rising incidents of snatching in the city in the last few months. On Mahashivratri , as many as six snatching incidents were reported.

Riding black motorcycles and conveniently wearing black helmets to conceal their identity, the snatchers have been carrying on their operation in busy markets. and outside temples.

Inspector General of Police S K Jain has also pulled up the SHOs and PCR Incharge for failing to nab the snatchers. The registration number of the snatchers' bikes, if ever noted down, is always found to be invalid.

Last year, more than a 100 incidents of snatching took place in the city, out of which not a single one was detected by any of the PCR vehicles.
