Rs 5 lakh donated to society

Chandigarh, February 29 Chief Justice Virender Jain handed over a cheque of Rs five lakh to the Society for Rehabilitation of Mentally Challenged. He was the chief guest on this occasion and was accompanied by his wife Kumad Jain.

Justice Jain acknowledged the efforts of Promila Chander Mohan, Honorary Secretary of the society.

The cheque was presented by Ved Prakash Vinayak and his wife who represented the NRI community residing in Newcastle, which had collected Rs 3.5 lakh while the remaining Rs 1.5 lakh was donated by Vinayak.

H S Mattewal, Advocate General, Punjab, also donated Rs one lakh. Other members present were Justice R S Mongia, chairman, Punjab Human Rights Commission, Bagrodia, chairman, PHD, Chamber of Commerce, H L Vij, chairman Modern Group.
