Rs 58.5 lakh distributed among victims

Kolkata The South Eastern Railway has distributed compensation of Rs 58.5 lakh among the victims of the Jnaneswari Express accident. The railways has decided to give Rs 5 lakh compensation to the kin of the dead, Rs 1 lakh to those with serious injuries and Rs 50,000 to people with minor injuries.

“We have decided to give Rs 25,000 in cash to the victims. The remaining amount will be given through cheques,” said Dinesh Kumar, Additional Divisional Railway Manager of Kharagpur Division.

Till date, the railways has handed over compensation to relatives of 97 people who died in the accident.

Another 80 injured have also been given the compensation. The West Bengal government has given Rs 3 crore to the railways for providing compensation to the victims. The state government has decided to give Rs 3 lakh to the families of the deceased.

due security reasons deaths govt should compensate at least 25 lakhs not lakhs====== 5 lakhs are not enough for life and seriously injured shoudl get 10 lakhs minor injuries 1lakh rest all should get atleast 10000rs for going through such horrible experience roger taiwan
