A senior official in the State Agro Industries Corporation said on Tuesday that the land for the proposed mega agro-park was already identified in the GIDC area falling in the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) in Patan district. The project, for which an MoU was inked at the just-concluded Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors' Summit (VGGIS), will generate employment for 20,000 people, when implemented.
The official said according to the design, the park will have multi-store as well as floating greenhouses, arable farms for feed and vegetables, and fresh water production and processing units. The developers have also proposed to undertake captive cultivation on a large scale on the land.
The other project components include integrated dairy farms and processing, oil seed extraction units, hi-tech broiler farms, vegetable, fruits and seed processing, cold storages and warehousing and mushroom production.
A state-of-the-art trade facility is also envisaged at the project site, the official said.
He added that the agro-park project, when implemented, would not only meet the domestic needs in the agro industries sector, but also open new frontiers for export of the various agro-products.
