Ludhiana, January 7 Ryan International School today started its three-day long crusade against HIV/AIDS.

‘Right to live’, an AIDS awareness campaign for youth and children, is an outcome of the three-week workshop organized on the school campus. In this campaign, activities like a fashion show, a rock band, street plays, seminars, film shows, ballet, debates, power point presentation competition, poster and collage making etc were included.

Utkarsh Marwah, Cultural and Creative Director of Ryan Institutes said, “This is an effort to promote AIDS awareness and participate in the social, economic and political life of today's’ youth through various workshops in visual and performing arts forms.”

In the three-week long workshop, students were sensitized and made aware about this dreadful disease through various visual and performing art forms.

Jaishree Gupta, Principal of Ryan International School said, “The students were taught about film making, ballet, fashion designing, rock music, street theatre etc. All this gave an outlet to the children to express their inner desires and emotions.”

Gupta added that the interplay of different art forms, coupled with the bounteous and prolific intellect of the young ones, has resulted in various presentations.” Marwah further said, “For the first time in Ludhiana, we have a children’s rock band that will sing for the cause of AIDS awareness. The students of the school will create history when their film ‘Chhoti si aasha’ will be premiered at PVR Ludhiana.”

Marwah added that the students have also worked on a fashion show, where adult models will display a range of garments designed by children on the theme of the deadly virus. Abhinandan Singh Gill, who has made some designs for the show said, “One dress has big circles, which show that AIDS engulfs the whole body.”

Added Puja Sharma, a Class VIII student, “I have performed in a ballet based on the theme that AIDS does not spread through touching. I hope people will appreciate it.”

Joy Jacob, a Class VIII student, was enthusiastic about the rock band in which he is taking part. Divam Khosla, a Class IX student said, “We will rock the stage with our band which starts with the song, Haath se haath milao.”
