Kolkata A day before the visit of Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, Trinamool Congress leaders claimed he is coming here following several meetings party chief Mamata Banerjee has had with him over the “Marxist violence” in the state.

Trinamool leaders said they would urge the home minister, who will assess the law and order situation in the state, to sack the Left Front government.

After reaching Kolkata from Itanagar on Saturday, Chidambaram will head for Mangolkot in Burdwan, which has seen intermittent clashes between Congress and CPM workers. In the evening, he will meet the chief minister and will go to Naxal-hit Lalgarh on Sunday.

“Chidambaram is coming here because we insisted. Our leader Mamata Banerjee met him several times and gave him papers to support our claim of Marxist violence. The home minister will have to think how long the central government should allow this government to stay,” Partha Chatterjee, leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly and Trinamool secretary general, said.

Congress Legislature Party leader Manas Bhunia expressed similar sentiments. “We are suffering not only from the Maoist violence but also from the violence unleashed by the CPM. We will urge the home minister to throw out the Left front government.”

Meanwhile, the People’s Committee against Police Atrocities (PCAPA) at Lalgarh, which took out processions today, plans to show black flags to Chidambaram during his visit here on Sunday. PCAPA spokesperson Asit Mahato claimed 59 of the outfit’s supporters were killed during security operations to flush out Maoists while more than 300 villagers and 12 PCAPA activists are still missing.

“Forces did not take any action against CPM goons running camps in Goaltore in West Midnapore.  Chidambaram should take action against these goons for the interest of the tribals,” Mahato said.

Sack Buddha govt-Demand of Cong. by D.B.Chakraborty on 03 Apr 2010

In one ward SILLY specially on the part of Congress.UHM is aware of the roll of Trinamool about Maoist from the report of Central Agencies,State govt.reports etc.He should not indulge ignoring the factual position.Misconduct by Trinamoo l is very much known to him besides those of left front.Let he asses the feeling of large no.of intelectuals of the state about the leader of trinamool who is in command of the party.Others r simply following her order. In democracy change happens & in W.B. a suitable change is welcome if de- cided by voters. But most talked views r not in favour of Trinamool Leader but of Congress President in a qualiation Govt.Lastly the attention of the UHM is drawn to his oath taken in swearing-in ceremony as Cabinet Minister.W.B.is going to be ruined if coaliation partner is allowed to go in undemocratic way.Intellectuals wanted to know also from UHM whether RLY.Minister being a central Minister can ask Police Personnel to go on mass leave & pay later.
