Mumbai The three personnel from the Narcotics Control Bureau’s (NCB) Chandigarh office, who were being questioned by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), are alleged to be involved in the diversion of seized drugs.

Two police security officers (PSOs) — Naveen Kumar and Devendra Pal — and superintendent Balwinder Kumar from the Chandigarh NCB were being questioned jointly by the ATS and senior officials of the NCB. While Kumar had been named by Saji Mohan, the role of the two PSOs emerged after the investigating agency found that the two had participated in many raids without informing the seniors.

According to Parambir Singh, Additional Commissioner of Police (ATS), the investigating agency will take a definite call on the scope of the investigation after taking legal opinion. “At this stage, it does not emerge if they (the three officials) were involved in pushing the drug. There is, however, reason to believe that they did participate in the diversion of drugs and mixing them at the behest of Mohan.”

The ATS has till now arrested three persons, including Saji Mohan (former zonal director of Chandigarh NCB) and two of his agents for pushing heroin and seized 39 kilograms of Afghan heroin from the three.
