Chandigarh Even though former Zonal Director (Chandigarh) of Narcotics Control Bureau Saji Mohan is supposed to be produced in the local courts on Tuesday, the Mumbai police are still struggling for permission from the magistrate concerned in Mumbai to take him to Chandigarh.

Senior UT police officials confirmed late on Monday night that Saji Mohan will not be produced in the Chandigarh district court on Tuesday.

On Friday, the Mumbai Jail authorities, where the former NCB zonal director is kept in judicial remand, had filed an application with the magistrate concerned requesting permission to take Mohan to Chandigarh. But the magistrate was on leave that day while the next two days were holidays (Saturday and Sunday).

The application was moved to duty magistrate who, police sources said, did not grant permission to take Saji Mohan out of the city.

A fortnight ago, the Chandigarh Police had deputed a sub-inspector of the Economic Offences Wing to go to Mumbai with a production warrant against Saji Mohan.

Mohan has been accused of embezzlement and corruption by the NCB, which alleged that Rs 13.81 lakh was missing from the seizures made during Saji Mohan’s tenure as Zonal Director, NCB, Chandigarh.
