Chandigarh, January 4 Drag-flick expert Sandeep Singh has been picked among the 29 probables for the three-nation hockey tournament starting January 22. The names of the probables for the three-nation tournament figuring India, Belgium and Pakistan were announced in Chennai on Friday.

A surprised Sandeep Singh told Newsline that he did not know about the surprise call up for the national camp for the tournament starting in Bangalore on January 10. “I did not know about my name figuring in the probables list. I am surprised about my inclusion in the probables list and I will try to give my 100 percent during the national camp starting from January 10,” said Singh. Adding further he said he is only concentrating on Chandigarh Dynamos' semi-final clash with Hyderabad Sultans on Saturday. “Right now, I am concentrating on the semi-final encounter against Hyderabad Sultans on Satuday and I hope to perform well in the match to guide my team into the final of Premier Hockey League,” said Singh who has so far scored eight goals in six matches in the Premier Hockey League.

Mid-fielder Pavan Lakra and young forward Bikash Topo were also named in the list. The probables will undergo a national camp in Bangalore from January 10 for the lead-up tournament to the Olympic qualifiers in Chile in March. The final team for the three-nation tournament will have either 22 or 24 players after which the team will leave for Western Australia for training-cum-competition for the Pre-Olympic Qualifiers going to be held in Chile in March 2008. India will play Belgium and Pakistan during the three-nation tournament in which each team will play each other twice and the top two teams will feature in the final on January 30.
