Dilip Mitra, professor of painting in Kala Bhavan, said a group of students and teachers went to Durgapur and spoke to the doctors who have confirmed that Yusuf is recovering. “We also have our final-year exam in April and the doctors assured he would be well by then. Both of them are bright students. Elliot is my student and he is one of the most gifted students I have come across. We were scared we had lost one of our brightest students,” he said. Mitra said the cost of treatment was borne by the Kala Bhavan student fund.
Vice-Chancellor Rajat Kanta Ray visited the students on Friday.
