Sarabjeet Singh claims boys’ under-15 crown

Chandigarh, February 24 Sarabjeet Singh of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector-35 won the boys’ under-15 title in the mini marathon organised by St John's Old Boys Association (SJOBA) on Sunday. Over 600 participants took part in the marathon which was flagged off by S S Srivastva, SSP, Chandigarh from St John's School, Sector-26.

M Suresh Singh of New Public School clinched the second spot in the boys’ under-15 category while Vikram Singh of New Public School bagged the third spot. In the girls’ under-15 category, Nupur of Vivek High School claimed the top spot while Ria Pahwa of St Xavier's Convent School clinched the second spot. The third position was bagged by J Thapar of Carmel Convent School, Sector-26. Joginder raced to glory in the boys’ 16-24 years category by claiming the first position while Surinder Rana claimed the second spot. The third spot was won by Mukul Singh. In the girls’ 16-24 years category, Rajdeep Kaur claimed the top spot while Atwinder Kaur bagged the second position. Rajwant Kaur bagged the third position in the same category. In the men’s 25-39 years category, Harjinder showed her dominance over all the other participants and claimed the top spot in his category while Mohinder S Bhattan came second. K Singh got the third position in the same category. In the women’s category, vandana Tripathi came first while Charanjeet Kaur claimed the second spot in the same category. The third position went to Anu Saboo.

The top position in the men’s 40-59 years category was bagged by Gurpreet Singh while the second spot was claimed by Debnath. Surjit Singh claimed the third position in the same category. In the women's 40-59 years category, Deepkamal Gill claimed the first position while the second spot was bagged by Sunita Malik. Sunita Sharma came third in the same category.

The total prize money of the event was Rs 90,000 and the first prize in each category was Rs 4500 while the second prize consisted of Rs 3,000. The third prize was of Rs 1500.

Men : 25-39 years : 1. Harjinder 2. Mohinder S Bhattan 3.K Singh; 40-59 years: 1. Gurpreet Singh. 2. Debnath 3.Surjit Singh;

Women : 25-39 years : 1.Vandana Tripathi 2. Charanjit Kaur 3. Anu Saboo; 40-59 years: 1.Deepkamal Gill 2. Sunita Malik 3. Sunita Sharma.
