Saraswat bank honours Newale

Pune, January 31 The Saraswat Co-operative Bank on Thursday honoured Gorakh Tukaram Newale, an employee with zoo department of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation by giving him a cash award of Rs 25000 for showing bravery in helping catching the leopard in Pradhikaran area two days back. Sunita Thakur, chief general manager of bank, handed over a cheque of Rs 25000 to his wife. Newale is recuperating at a private hospital.

On the occasion, Thakur said, "The Saraswat Co-operative bank has always been in the forefront of providing quality and efficient services to its clients. As a part of bank's corporate social responsibility initiative, we decided to honor Gorakh Newale, who fearlessly pounced on the leopard and wrestled it; in order to protect the life of others." Newale, who suffered injuries on his shoulder, was admitted to Lokmanya Hospital at Nigdi. The bank has offered this financial aid to bare his load of expenses for hospitalisation.
