Addressing the gathering, Jain stated that the city had not seen much development in the last five years of the Congress rule. “Give me 100 days and I will give you five years. The people of the city want a change. When the BJP comes to power, the participation of the people in the decision-making process would increase. All the city’s problems — increasing traffic, pollution and lack of housing ¿ will be tackled,” said Jain. Jain added that he would curb infighting between the Administration officials if he was elected.
Of the six BJP leaders, the names of whom were recommended by the local party unit as candidate for the polls, only general secretary Sanjay Tandon extended complete support to Jain. The other five were conspicuous by their absence.
