Kolkata The Calcutta High court today asked advocate Tapash Bhanja to inform the counsel of the Union of India and the Reserve Bank of India for taking proper steps to rectify the National Emblem in non-judicial stamp paper.

Advocate Bhanja today placed a non-judicial stamp paper of Rs 10 before the Division Bench of Acting Chief Justice Bhaskar Bhattacharya and Justice Prasenjit Mondal, pointing out that the words “Satyamewa Jayate” were missing under the Ashoka Pillar of the water mark in non-judicial stamp paper.

After examining the non-judicial stamp paper, the Bench asked Bhanja to inform the counsel of Union of India and the Reserve Bank for rectification.

In a related development, Kamal Dey, the editor of a Bengali journal who had filed a petition over improper use of National Emblem in state and Central government offices, informed the Bench that he was threatened by some policemen for producing photographs of police vehicles bearing the National Emblem that had Satyamewa Jayate missing from them. The Bench asked Dey to file an affidavit in this regard.
