One of the teachers, who did not want to be named, said, "The supervisors asked the school teachers to leave students early during the aptitude paper to give them time to solve the incomplete mathematics paper. However, the supervisors instead pressurised the students to sign on a paper stating that there was no delay."

Reema D, mother of one of the students, complained that students had to hurry through the examination because of the delay. "My daughter panicked and although she could attempt all the questions, she is not confident about the answers. Mathematics is already tough for some students and the chaos added to the tension," she said. She also alleged that some of the teachers helped students with the answers.

Parents of these students have drafted a complaint and submitted it to Pune Municipal Corporation school board chief Sudhakar Tambe. He, however, denied that there was delay in distribution. "The Maths paper this year was anyways difficult and parents are trying to leverage on this issue. Our supervisors are experienced teachers who are trained to be supervisors. They have been conducting this examination for years together and it is unlikely that they would distribute the papers as last as after 15 minutes," he said. A meeting of the principals of NMV, Hujurpaga and Seva Sadan schools is also called on Monday afternoon.

A total of 212, 89, 920 students from the state appeared for the scholarship examination at 5674 examination centres. Of these, 7, 94,791 were class VII students. Considering that parents were alleging of malpractices during the scholarship exams and involvement of teachers in them, the number of vigilance squads were increased in every district. On the other hand, no untoward incident was reported for the Maharashtra State Common Entrance State for MBA (MBA-MHCET) that also took place on Sunday.
