Mumbai, March 1 The principal of a school in Uttan, 10 kms from Bhayander, was arrested on Friday for allegedly molesting four girl students of the school over a year. The Bhayander police arrested 31-year-old Bandix Sebastian Gonsalves after the parents of one of the victims filed a complaint, said Ramnath Pokale, Additional Superintendent of Police, Thane.

According to the police, Gonsalves, the principal of Bal Vidyalay in Uttan, had been molesting four girls of classes V and VI over the last one year on the pretext of teaching them in his office. The victims are aged between 10-12 years.

The matter came to light when a teacher of the school came to know about it. She informed the parents of one of the girls, who registered a case of molestation against the principal at the Bhayander police station. So far, the parents of only one girl have come forward to file a complaint.

Gonsalves was on Saturday produced before the Thane judicial magistrate who sent him to judicial custody till March 15. “There were some protests against the incident, but the situation is calm and there were no incidents of violence,” Pokale said.
