Despite Deputy Commissioner Sumer Singh Gurjer directing the schools in the city to not to open before 10 a.m., majority of the private schools opened at 9 am today. However the government schools implemented the DC’s orders from today itself.
Reacting to the development, the DC today said warned those schools of disciplinary action which did not follow the directive issued by him. “Action will be taken against those schools which fail to implement the directive,” Gurjer told ENS.
The DC had yesterday passed an order under Section 144 of the CrPC, directing all the schools in the district to not to open before 10 am. It was observed that majority of government school teachers reached their schools at 10 am while students who were not aware of the orders reached there before 9 a.m.
Barring a few, the remaining private schools in the city functioned as per their old schedule i.e. between 8 to 9 am.
Some private schools do not intend to change their timings even from tomorrow arguing that they had already changed the timings from 8 a.m to 9 am and would not change its again and again. However, some schools which earlier started at 9 a.m., have now delayed by half an hour.
