Chandigarh As part of the ambitious e-Governance project of the Chandigarh Administration, a first-of-its-kind website was launched by the office of the sub-divisional magistrate (South) on Friday.

The website, which can be viewed at chdsdmsouth.gov.in has been designed and developed by the National Informatics Centre unit of Chandigarh. SDM (South) Prerna Puri said, “The aim is to ensure better dissemination of information and provide greater accessibility.”

While inaugurating the website, UT Deputy Commissioner Brijendra Singh emphasised on the need for continually updating the website and making it more user-friendly.

Highlighting the key features of the website, Puri said: “The website provides elaborate and comprehensive details of the services provided by the SDM office including registration of new vehicles, issuance of certificates for Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes, income certificate, residence certificate, late registration of births and deaths, sound permission, title approval and the countersignatures on documents.

For convenience of the public, the facility of downloading online application forms has been provided. The website also incorporates the Right to Information annexure and FAQs (frequently asked questions) providing answers to some of the common queries of the people.

The website has a ‘sound permission’ module wherein the applicants applying for sound permission can check the status of their applications online. The court cases monitoring system accessible on the website would enable the respondents in cases under preventive sections of Code of Criminal Procedure to check the status of their case and the next date of hearing, online.

The website also provides links to the websites of various other departments of Chandigarh Administration, including police, hospitals, hotels, engineering and transport.
