Lucknow, March 7 Even as joint teams of state and Bihar Police continued to search several areas in Bihar’s Muzaffarnagar, Vaishali and Gopalganj districts for kidnapped psychiatrist Dr C B Madhesiya, Gorakhpur remained closed in protest against his abduction.

The bandh call was given by Gorakhpur MP Yogi Aditya Nath to protest against Madhesiya’s kidnapping from Gorakhpur on February 9.

Additional Director General of Police Brij Lal (STF)

confirmed the involvement of Rishimuni gang in the incident.

Incidentally, Rishimuni Tewari is at present lodged at Bihar’s Buxar jail. Tewari, who operates in both UP and Bihar, was arrested in 2006 from Bihar’s Gopalganj district. Bihar DGP A R Sinha told The Indian Express that he has directed the police chief of different districts, including Gopalganj and Vaishali, to extend all cooperation to the UP Police to trace Madhesiya. “I have asked my SPs to find the doctor at the earliest. We have got leads and hope to find him very soon,” said Sinha.

Meanwhile, sources in the Gorakhpur police said the UP Police team that has been sent to Bihar includes two ASP-rank officers, besides 20 sub-inspectors.
