Chandigarh The ruling alliance in Punjab has agreed to continue with the same old seat-sharing formula for the LS elections. The Punjab BJP has finally decided to retain the Hoshiarpur seat, and the Akali Dal will field its candidate from Ludhiana. The BJP was earlier mulling to swap Hoshiarpur seat with Ludhiana.

Punjab BJP President Rajinder Bhandari said name of the candidate from Hoshiarpur would be announced shortly. On the Amritsar Lok Sabha seat, he said the party has already announced Navjot Singh Sidhu and there's no change in the plan. The decisions were agreed at a meeting of the core committee held yesterday. Sources said the name of Som Prakash from Hoshiarpur is likely to be considered even as the candidature of senior BJP leader Vijay Sampla is also doing the rounds. The Akalis are yet to announce a candidate from Bathinda and Ludhiana.

One among the two, Harsimrat Kaur, wife of Sukhbir Badal, and Surinder Kaur, the CM's wife, is likely to contest from Bathinda.
