President of the association, Air Marshal Randhir Singh (Retd) said that some streetlights on the V5 road in the area have been shifted from one side of the road to the other.

“It was after widening the roads that the streetlights were shifted. But this has deteriorated the quality of lights as most of these are now hidden by trees. While money was spent on this, we are still unaware of its purpose,” said Singh.

He added that as public money is being used for the purpose, the MC should be held accountable towards the same.

Another issue raised by the association is the laying of pipelines for the tertiary-treated water. General Secretary Major D S Sandhu (Retd) said that while pipelines have been laid in every park, there is no water supply. The tertiary-treated water is being supplied for watering green belts and parks.

The association has filed an application under the Right to Information Act to know the specifications of work for laying different types of tiles on footpaths, the cost involved in shifting streetlights, specifications of road gullies and the necessity of installing an underground garden irrigation system.

Area councillor Harjinder Kaur maintained that she had questioned the officials on the issue of laying pipes for tertiary-treated water.
