Kolkata A 25-year-old man employed as security guard at an under-construction building in Charu Chandra Place East was found murdered on Monday morning. The deceased has been identified as Jadav Chandra Das, a resident of Patharpratima in South 24-Parganas, who worked for a private security agency located at the Sarat Bose Road.

Das’s body was found lying in a pool of blood by another security guard, Birendra Rajbanshi.

“We have started interrogating locals. The body has been sent for post mortem. Prima facie, it seems that he was stoned to death,” said an investigating officer.

A scuffle broke out around 3.30 am on the ground floor. Birendra rushed the spot only to find Das lying unconscious. Some men were also spotted fleeing the spot, Birendra is said to have told police.

The police have learnt that the developer, who employed the guard, had received extortion calls. The miscreants had reportedly threatened the security guards, said police.

“We have contacted his family members. As of now, the possibility of local miscreants being involved in the murder cannot be ruled out. We are looking into the matter,” said Jawed Shamim, joint CP, headquarters.
