Chandigah A security guard at Bal Bhawan, Hari Singh, has been awarded Rs 5,000 and a commendation certificate (Class-I) by the Chandigarh Police for helping in the arrest of two thieves.

On January 28, Singh informed the police about a theft at Bal Bhawan. The thieves had escaped with two computers, a mobile phone and Singh’s purse. “During investigation, Singh provided several vital clues to the police, like giving a brief description of all the visitors before the theft. On the basis of these clues, the police managed to nab both the thieves, Ranjit Gupta and Sushil Kumar, within hours of registering the case. Along with the missing goods, the police also recovered a stolen Alto car with a fake registration number,” said Senior Superintendent of Police S S Srivastava.

Speaking to mediapersons, Hari Singh said: “This recognition has encouraged me to carry out my duties in a better way and I hope that other security guards will learn from this incident. Our caution will certainly help in landing the culprits behind the bars.”
