The heightened khaki presence around their house and son Anant’s school notwithstanding, Naresh and Nidhi Gupta are not ready to take any chances. So, two days after Anant’s alleged kidnapper hoodwinked the police, the couple has stopped sending Anant and sister Charvi to school — Lotus Valley School, on Noida-Greater Noida expressway.

On Wednesday, Nidhi Gupta said they would not send the children to school till Chhatrapal is arrested.

Anant was abducted — on November 13, 2006 — while returning from school. On Monday, “Anant had returned home when news of Chhatrapal’s escape came in,” Nidhi said, “but Charvi had not returned still. I called up the principal to find out if she was alright, and was extremely tense till she returned.”

The siblings have not attended classes for the past two days.

Nidhi said she is “satisfied” with security arrangements at the school but is sceptical about the journey to and back home.

School principal Madhu Chandra said: “There are at least 40 guards in the school at any given time. There are also maids and a guard in each school bus, and we have given them special instruction.”
