Ambala Union Minister of State for Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation Selja Kumari has sought re-election as the Congress party candidate from Ambala Parliamentary constituency. Being the sitting MP, her claim to contest from her constituency was in conformity with the party policy, she said today, while addressing a press conference at her residence in Ambala Cantt.

She said she is not shifting to any other constituency and has already started campaigning. The AICC treasurer and incharge of Haryana party affairs would formally launch the Lok Sabha election campaign at a booth-level workers’ meeting at Khalsa school grounds, Ambala Cantonment, tomorrow.

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda would also address the workers on the occasion, she added. She said the workers would be made aware of the achievements made by the UPA government during its tenure. She said the UPA government has taken a strong stand against terrorism.

She supported the move to project Rahul Gandhi as the future prime minister and said he had the potential to shoulder the responsibilities of the post.
