Vadodara, January 6 In Yet another instance of post-poll rivalry, Fulsinh Baria, who was the Shiv Sena candidate for the Rajgadh Assembly seat, has alleged that the victorious BJP MLA, Fatehsinh Chauhan and his two aides beat him up severely on Thursday night.

In a complaint lodged at Devdagh Baria Police Station, Baria said he was riding his motorcycle when Chauhan intercepted and started insulting him for contesting the poll.

The MLA was soon joined by his armed bodyguard and they beat him up with a machine gun. Baria alleged that Chauhan strangled him with the strap of the gun. The police said that Chauhan, his bodyguard and his driver were named in the FIR and that the investigation was on.

In the recent past, there have been several incidents where political candidates have had cases filed against each other. The list includes Devgadh Baria MLA Tushar Singh from the NCP, who was accused of throwing out a local journalist of a polling booth on December 16. Also in the list are Shehra candidates Jetha Bharwad and Takatsinh Solanki.
