The victim, identified as Sadashiv Rama Banjan, then walked for about one-and-a-half hours to reach the town. Here, he took help of a tea stall owner to reach home and then lodged a complaint with the Faraskhana police station.

According to the police, Banjan, a resident of Ganesh Darshan, Shivajinagar, owns an electronic goods workshop at Bhosari.

Around 10 pm on Monday, when he was walking near the Pasodya Vithoba temple, five unidentified men forced him into a car. They tied his hands, mouth and eyes with a cloth. Police said that pointing a sickle, the kidnappers robbed his gold ornaments and mobile phone, totally worth Rs 86,000. After some time, the suspects changed their vehicle. They forced Banjan into a jeep and took him to Varandha Ghat, where they dropped him out at around 4 am. Banjan fell into a 15 feet deep trench. After coming out , Banjan tried to stop the vehicles going through the ghat section. With no option left, he walked for about one-and-a-half hours to reach Mahad town.

Banjan called his family from the mobile phone of another passenger and reached home on Tuesday morning. Meanwhile, his son had filed a missing report with the police. Police sub inspector U A Dhumal of Faraskhana police station is investigating the case.
