Senior state basketball tourney from today

Ludhiana Ludhiana Academy will clash with Sangrur on the opening day of the Punjab state senior basketball championship that will get underway from January 20 at the Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana, though from January 21 all matches will take place in village Jarkhar.

According to secretary of Punjab Basketball Association Teja Singh, nine matches will be played on the opening day of the championship. Meanwhile, District Basketball Association declared both the teams for the championship.

In women’s section too, Ludhiana will take on Sangrur, while Bathinda will lock horns with Ropar.

Ludhiana Academy team: (Men): Dilawar Singh (Captain) Rajan Sharma, Yatin Sharma, Wasim, Baljit, Gourav, Jaskarn Singh and Komal. Coach: S. Subramanium.

Ludhiana team: (Men): Manpreet Singh, Kuljit Singh, Kuljit, Richard, Jimmy Joy, Harpreet, Akash Gill, Ritesh, Ravinder, Ajay, Lovneet and Khusmeet. Coach: Ashwani Kumar.

Ludhiana team: (Women): Karanjit Kaur (Captain), Jasdeep Kaur, Harpreet, Chandeep Kaur, Bakshoo, Harminder Kaur, Puja, Harpreet Kaur, Rajvir Kaur and Gagan. Coach: Mohan Lal.
