Ahmedabad Designated Metropolitan Magistrate G B Patel, on Wednesday, directed to commit the case of bomb blast outside the Trauma Centre of Ahmedabad Civil Hospital to the Designated Sessions Court.

The trials in the case will now be held under Designated Sessions Judge B M Trivedi.

Over 35 people were killed in the incident, which was part of the serial blasts across the city on July 26 last year. More than 55 people were killed in the blasts.

The investigation of all the blast cases was then handed to the Ahmedabad City Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) and the state government had appointed a special designated metropolitan court for the proceedings of the cases.

The government has appointed a Special Designated Sessions Court for the speedy trial of the cases as well as special public prosecutors.

The DCB has submitted a chargesheet against 45 accused in the case.

The accused had allegedly used LPG cylinders to maximise the impact of the blast, which was triggered by using ammonium nitrate.
